LouiSimone Guirandou Gallery is pleased to present "carte blanche à Ange Arthur Koua" a group exhibition around the Ivorian artist Ange-Arthur Koua, from November 5 to December 12, 2020.
Works by Ernest Düku, Yagor, Yseult Digan and Piniang join those of Ange-Arthur for this exhibition.

Born in Abidjan (Côte d'Ivoire) in 1989, Ange-Arthur Koua graduated from the National School of Fine Arts of Abidjan in 2015 . Born in the commune of Abobo, he lives and works in N'Douci (Côte d'Ivoire).

In his work, Ange-Arthur wants to "express freely and to support causes that would not be the priority of others".Thus, very quickly, during his training in a painting workshop at the Beaux-Arts, the student felt imprisoned by the academicism of the use of paint as a material. "I want to be free to touch, to use everything as I want, as long as my inner self is satisfied. The absoluteness of his quest gives us to see an aesthetic of mixed techniques where paint and textiles are mixed. Thus translating in his work a "chaos world" on supports of recycled jeans and bags, where everything is instinctively "put down" he says. He paints, dirties, burns, glues, sews, to obtain pieces loaded with singular narrations.

The exhibition MANsonge, at LouiSimone Guirandou Gallery in 2019, gave him the opportunity to explore in his "tapestries" the idea of reality experienced by two worlds, between visible and invisible, like the popular belief in eastern Ivory Coast that the soul of the deceased clings to their clothes. There was also a series of works on paper representing faces that question the world of masks and traditional statuary.
