Claudie Titty Dimbeng Nationalité, b. 1968

Claudie Titty Dimbeng (Dimbeng) is a painter born in Abidjan in 1968. She lives and works in Paris.

Through her technique, Mixed Art Relief, Dimbeng perpetuates the “Vohou spirit” by adopting materials such as tapa and raffia from the painters of the movement, which, when combined with plaster and colors, reveal abstract or figurative forms.

She began her career in 2002 with a solo exhibition at the Lorizon Gallery, and exhibited for the first time in her native country, Côte d'Ivoire, in 2013 at the Arts Pluriels Gallery. She has participated in group exhibitions at UNESCO, Kultur Hus of Sandnes in Norway, Vilnius City Hall in Lithuania, and Egg Art Studio Gallery in New Delhi, India. In 2022, the Madlozi Art Gallery in South Africa dedicated a mid-career retrospective to her, and in 2023, Zanele Muholi invited her to participate in the Embodying Her exhibition in Cape Town.

That same year, one of her works entered the Shoen Endowment Fund collection after receiving the Purchase Prize awarded by the Matsutani Prize jury, chaired by its founders Takesada Matsutani and Kate Van Houten, for her work Hippocampe.
