Born in 1984 in Mauritania, Saleh Lô is a self-taught artist renowned for his mastery of realist and hyperrealist painting techniques. Co-founder of an art space in Nouakchott dedicated to artistic creation, residencies, and cultural exchange, he has developed a practice that combines social engagement with rigorous formal exploration.

 

His career has been shaped by numerous international residencies, among which Raw Material Company in Dakar (2017), the IFA Cross Culture Programme in Berlin, the Clark House Initiative in Mumbai (2017-2018), the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris(2019), and Over Art in Barcelona.

 

In 2018, he was invited by curator Cosmin Costinaș to participate in the 13th Dakar Biennale (Dak'Art).

 

His work has since been presented internationally, including a solo exhibition dedicated to the Talibé series in Hong Kong in 2025, a body of work that has become central to his artistic practice.

 

Through painting, drawing, and installation, Saleh Lô explores issues of migration, social inequality, slavery legacies, mixed identities, and marginalized communities. His work is distinguished by his ability to combine social commitment, human proximity, and technical precision, offering renewed visibility to individuals often overlooked within contemporary societies.
