Claire Marboeuf France, b. 1981

Claire Marboeuf is a self-taught photographer and visual artist. Born in France, she lived in Morocco and Ghana prior to establishing in Côte d'Ivoire approximately ten years ago. Her introduction to photography occurred in 2017 during an excursion with the Flash Abidjan collective. Claire Marboeuf's photographic practice involves a process of transformation. After shooting, she metamorphoses her black-and-white photographs by incorporating paint, loincloths, and assorted elements salvaged from her environment. This artistic intervention transforms the photographs into intricate visual puzzles, inviting viewers to engage with the artist's creative process and explore the interplay between image and object.

 

Her creations playfully evoke a warm, vibrant humanity, recalling the richness of social ties and shared moments. As a seasoned traveler, she offers a discerning perspective on urban life, capturing the essence of local culture amidst the bustling metropolises.
