Mopti is a city in central Mali. Once a peaceful, tourist center, near the cities of Djenné and Timbuktu and the Dogon Country, it is today a place of terrorist violence. Mopti is a cry from the heart for the city, to draw attention to the exactions experienced daily by its inhabitants in the name of Islam. While it is so obvious that the war in this region has no connection whatsoever with religion.
